Programming and commissioning an industrial robot system

ENGINEERING · ROBOT PROGRAMMING

Robot programming for your production.

We program new robotic systems and modify existing programs. This covers motion sequences, PLC interfaces, product changeovers and restart after faults. We also support systems supplied by other integrators.

INITIAL SITUATION

Coordinate motion, interfaces and restart.

We develop robot programs with clear states, safe interfaces and reproducible restart for new cells and existing systems.

01

MOTION

Optimise robot paths and cycle time

We check gripping points, tool and base coordinates, and motion paths. Waiting times and unnecessary travel are assessed alongside the PLC, gripper and process tool sequences.

02

INTERFACES

Coordinate robot and PLC signals

Enables, acknowledgements, safety states and process data are implemented as an unambiguous sequence with documented states.

03

RECOVERY

Restart from defined states

Interruption points, component status, tool occupancy and safe retraction motions are programmed for real fault scenarios.

Programming and commissioning a robotic system

CELL LOGIC & IMPLEMENTATION

Robot programming and cell control.

Process paths, state logic, diagnostics and version status are developed together. Product changeovers, troubleshooting and restart remain transparent for operations and maintenance.

01

Tool/base calibration, gripping points, process paths and motion profile

02

PLC handshake, peripheral signals, recipe and variant selection

03

Fault handling, safe retraction and guided restart

04

Cycle-time optimisation, program backup, version status and documentation

OPERATION & SUPPORT

Robot programs for ongoing operation.

We adapt program changes to the actual system sequence. This may involve new variants, shorter waiting times or clear restart steps. We also examine the gripper, process tool and peripherals. Available program versions and access help establish the scope of work.

01

STRUCTURE

Readable programs based on standards

Naming, data management, subprograms and comments simplify maintenance and future expansion.

02

CALIBRATION

Set up coordinate systems transparently

Tools, bases, cameras and external axes are measured and documented reproducibly.

03

DIAGNOSTICS

Detailed diagnostic messages

Operators receive clear messages, prerequisites and guided restart steps.

04

HANDOVER & SUPPORT

Handover and subsequent support

Programs and parameters are backed up, tested and documented. We remain available for modifications, optimisation and fault analysis.

IMPLEMENTATION

Project stages and technical handover.

For SAR Electronic GmbH, we developed software for a complex robotic application and commissioned the system on site at the end customer.

  1. ASSESSMENT

Record robot type, process and current system

We clarify the robot type, process, system status, existing programs, interfaces and the required result.

  2. PROGRAMMING

Implement paths, interfaces and cell logic

Tool and base calibration, gripping points, process paths, motion profiles and PLC handshakes are coordinated and programmed.

  3. TEST & OPTIMISATION

Test restart and cycle time under real conditions

Fault handling, safe retraction, restart and cycle-time optimisation are tested on the system and process.

  4. HANDOVER

Hand over backups, version status and documentation

Programs and parameters are backed up, documented and handed over transparently for future modifications.

ROBOT PROGRAMMING QUESTIONS

Assess cycle time, changeovers and restart.

A slow robot cell or difficult restart often has several causes. We assess motion, process tools, the PLC and system states together and define the necessary programming scope before implementation.

  • We program motion sequences, gripping points and process paths, and coordinate the robot with the PLC and peripherals.
  • For existing systems, we modify sequences, variant selection and fault handling. The scope is agreed based on your system and the required changes.

  • We examine the complete sequence for long paths, waiting times and inefficient motion profiles.
  • Machine and tool processing times limit the achievable overall cycle. We therefore also assess the gripper, PLC and peripherals.
  • We test changes on the system and check clearance, calibration and the required quality.

  • We check the state of the robot, part, tool and machine after an interruption.
  • Retraction movements, enables and diagnostic messages are coordinated with the system sequence.
  • Typical faults are tested on the system to establish clear operator steps. Safety functions are taken into account.

  • We assess payload, reach, gripper, fixtures and process tools against the new parts.
  • Gripping points, paths, recipes and variant selection are adapted. We agree any mechanical or electrical changes with you.
  • Drawings or samples and the required cycle time help with the assessment.

  • Yes. We provide support, programming and further development for robotic systems supplied by other integrators.
  • We review existing programs, controllers and interfaces. Backups and software access help us get started.
  • If documentation is missing, we assess the system on site and agree which functions should be retained or modified.

  • We agree the handover scope with you. It includes backed-up programs and parameters, version details and documentation of the changes.
  • Depending on the system, tool and base data, interface signals, recipes and restart instructions may be included.
  • Completed tests and open points are documented. We clarify the software and licences needed to open or restore the programs.

DISCUSS YOUR PROJECT WITH US

New application, cycle-time issue or difficult restart?

Briefly describe your system and the required change. Robot type, controller, available backups, fault messages or a video help us assess the task. We clarify any missing details together with you.
