PROCESS AUTOMATION
Automate bonding and dispensing.
Apply a defined amount of adhesive, sealant or potting compound. We coordinate dispensing equipment, robot paths and material supply to suit your material, parts and application pattern.
TYPICAL CHALLENGES
Material flow and application quality.
Viscosity, temperature and interruptions affect dispensed volume and bead shape. We test your actual material on representative parts and coordinate dispensing, nozzle selection and motion.
01
MATERIAL
Material properties and mixing ratio
Temperature, pot life, fillers and sedimentation influence flow and reaction. One- and two-component media therefore require suitable conditioning and monitoring.
02
AIR & MOISTURE
Material conditioning and ambient conditions
Entrained air can affect dispensing volume and insulation performance. For sensitive potting applications, material conditioning, supply and, where necessary, the process itself are performed under vacuum.
03
BEAD
Synchronise path motion and material flow
Corners, acceleration and speed changes affect bead geometry. Pressure, flow and path control must be coordinated as one process.
TECHNICAL SOLUTION CONCEPT
The bonding and dispensing process.
Material conditioning, pumps, dispensers, mixing technology, robot path, component surface and quality control are engineered as one coherent process.
01
Clarify material data, pot life, temperature window and surface preparation
02
Engineer volumetric dispensing, pressure control and one-/two-component mixing technology
03
Coordinate path and flow at corners, start, end and speed changes
04
Monitor bead width, position, interruptions and dispensed volume
ENGINEERING CRITERIA
Dispensing equipment for your material and part.
For adhesive and dispensing processes, material, application contour and part must be compatible. Material conditioning, mixing, surface preparation and monitoring determine cost. Variants and interruptions are assessed with the original material.
01
CHEMISTRY
Material to be processed
Viscosity, abrasiveness, moisture sensitivity, fillers and reaction time determine the system technology.
02
SURFACE
Required cleaning or activation
Contamination, release agents and low surface energy may require pretreatment or plasma activation.
03
GEOMETRY
Bead, dot, area or potting volume
Contour, gap, undercut and accessibility determine nozzle selection, path planning and whether an atmospheric or vacuum process is used.
04
QUALITY
Verification of material application
Flow, pressure, temperature, mixing ratio and optical bead inspection can be stored against the component.
HOW WE WORK
Trial bonding and dispensing with your actual material.
For dosmatix GmbH, we developed modular dispensing stations and complete systems, including PLC software and control programming.
01
Evaluate material and component in practice
The data sheet, original material, surfaces, contour and quality requirements are assessed together.
02
Conduct dispensing and bead trials
We determine the process window, suitable nozzle, speed, flow rate and required pretreatment.
03
Commission material supply and monitoring
During ramp-up, we test container changes, flushing, pot life, interruptions, bead defects and documented approvals.
Planning your application
Questions about bonding and dispensing automation.
Repeatable application depends on coordinated material supply, dispensing and path control. These questions help assess materials, parts and process requirements before designing the system.
- Repeated dots, beads, areas and potting volumes are suitable when the application points are accessible and material quantities are defined.
- We assess bonding, sealing, greasing and potting using the actual material for the application.
- Trials also cover workholding, surfaces and any required pretreatment.
- Viscosity, fillers, application quantity and permitted interruptions determine the selection of pumps, dispensers and nozzles.
- For two-component materials, supply, mixing ratio and mixing equipment are coordinated. Depending on the material, conditioning, degassing or vacuum processing may be required.
- Existing dispensing equipment can be integrated when its interfaces and process window suit the task.
- Motion and material flow are coordinated at starts, stops, corners and speed changes.
- Depending on requirements, flow, pressure, temperature and mixing ratio can be monitored. Optical inspection can assess bead position, width and interruptions.
- Your quality requirements determine which characteristics are checked and recorded against each part.
- Part contours, fixtures, nozzles and application settings are assessed for the intended variants.
- A material change may require different dispensing components, cleaning steps or process settings.
- New materials and critical variants are trialled with the actual material before their recipes are used in production.
- Pot life, container changes and permitted downtime affect flushing and restart procedures.
- Nozzles, pumps, mixing and dispensing components need suitable cleaning and maintenance routines.
- Residual material, flushing agents and wear parts are operating costs. We account for these tasks during system design.
- Briefly describe the material and intended application. Part photos or samples help us get started.
- Existing product and safety data sheets, application contours, quantities, quality requirements and dispensing-equipment details are useful.
- Send whatever information you have. We will work through any missing details with you.
